How Long Does It Take to See Results from SEO?
Spoiler: not as long as you've been told.
The internet will tell you SEO takes 6 months to work. And look—I get why that answer exists. It feels safe. It manages expectations. But after studying my own client results intensely over the last 18 months? I can tell you with full confidence that it doesn't have to take that long.
My clients see results from SEO in 4–6 weeks on average. Some have seen wins in as little as 2 weeks.
Yeah. I said what I said. 👀
So what's actually going on here—and why does your timeline look different than what you've been told? Let's get into it.
What SEO "Results" Are We Talking About?
When I say results, I'm not talking about some vague uptick in a metric you have to squint to see. I'm talking about real, tangible things like:
Increased traffic to your website
Digital product sales
Program or membership sign-ups
More time spent on your pages (especially when you start blogging)
An increase in aligned inquiries—the right people reaching out
These are the kinds of wins my clients message me about almost weekly. And they're happening well before that 6-month mark!
Why Most SEOs Say 6 Months (...and Why I'm Pushing Back on that Metric)
The "SEO takes 6 months" answer has been floating around forever. And honestly? I think a lot of SEO pros say it because it feels like a pretty safe answer.
But it's not my answer—because it's not what I've seen play out with my clients.
SEO approaches start with more technical stuff. Competitor research, broken links, filling in metadata with basics.
Don't get me wrong—that stuff matters! But if you build all of that on top of a fuzzy, unclear foundation? It takes forever to gain traction. And continues to put out a poorly built bat signal.
My approach starts somewhere completely different → with your vision.
Why My Clients See Results Faster: The SEO & Grow 🌱 Method
The 3-Step SEO & Grow 🌱 Method is my proven framework for getting your website & content working FOR you. The three phases are: Understand SEO → Implement SEO → Maintain SEO.
But before we even get into keyword research, everyone starts by answering 3 questions:
Who do you help?
How do you help them?
What makes you the best option?
These answers are everything. They're what help Google (and your dream clients) understand exactly who you are, what you do, & who you're for—FAST.
When that foundation is crystal clear, the whole SEO strategy clicks into place. And the results? They follow.
Two Clients Who Saw Results WAY Faster Than They Expected
Elli, Virtual Bookkeeper for Female & Creative Entrepreneurs
Elli joined my SEO program on the very last day enrollment was open. She came in with 2 big concerns: she "wasn't a blogger" and she was worried about how long all of this was going to take.
Within about 3 weeks, she had a solid SEO strategy created AND fully implemented on her website. Just 5 weeks after plugging in her SEO strategy, she started seeing SEO results in Google. 🎉
And THEN she started blogging! (After claiming she “wasn’t a blogger.”)
She blew herself away! She's now regularly selling digital products directly from blog posts—people are finding her on Google, reading her content, & buying. That is SEO doing its thing.
Andrea, IFS Practitioner & Spiritual Coach
Andrea joined me for a 1-Month SEO Sprint. She showed up to every single live call, asked all her questions, & even shared her work-in-progress with me so I could review it before she plugged anything into her site. By the end of our time together, her entire website SEO strategy had been reworked & implemented.
One of the most exciting moments was uncovering this one key phrase that completely rocked her world: "self-trust."
Her ideal clients are the ones who know they've lost self-trust & want to rebuild it—which is exactly what she helps them do. Once we named that clearly in her SEO strategy, everything aligned.
Just a few weeks after implementation she messaged me to share that she'd gotten a coaching client AND sold digital products—all from leads who found her on Google. 🎉
She still messages me about the aligned leads & opportunities that keep coming in. The self-trust angle has been that powerful.
What Needs to Be in Place for SEO to Work?
Real talk: SEO cannot do the most if you're missing key pieces. And no, you cannot skip the parts that feel uncomfortable. That’s where the magic is. ✨
For SEO to actually work for you, you need:
1. A clear, cohesive SEO strategy for your core website pages
Your home page, about, services, podcast (if you have one), freebie, blog, & contact pages. This comes first. Always.
I share much more about those core website pages in this podcast episode:
2. Optimized online profiles
Think social media bios & directory listings. These extend your SEO strategy off your website & help the robots (and your people) find you in more places.
3. Consistent blog content
Yes, even if you have a podcast or a YouTube channel. Blogs support & strengthen your website SEO strategy in a way nothing else can. I know, I know. But trust me on this one. (I tried it the other way & the results were… not good.)
And ALL of it comes back to having clear answers to those BIG 3 questions. The ones that get at: your audience, your offers, your differentiator.
Without that? SEO & the robots are just guessing.
The Biggest Mistake That Slows Everything Down
Two things consistently delay results—or block them entirely.
The first: avoiding SEO altogether.
I hear it all the time. "It sounds too technical." "I don't have time." "I'll get to it eventually." Meanwhile, your ideal clients are Googling for exactly what you do—and landing on someone else's website.
The second (and sneakier one): being vague on purpose.
Let’s say you really want to say you’re a life coach for executives—but you’re scared to go all-in on that specific language? If you keep it generic and just say "life coach" that’s a problem.
Because no one is searching for a generic life coach. They're searching for their specific problem, their specific need, their specific context.
The more specific & honest you are, the faster Google (or any search engine or AI search tool) can connect you with the exact people you're meant to serve.
"But What If I'm Brand New… or I've Been Ignoring SEO for Years?"
You’re not alone! And the good news: there's no such thing as too early or too late. 🙌
If you're just getting started, the sooner you build this foundation the better—but you're not behind.
If you've been ignoring SEO for years (hi, same—I literally had to take myself through my own method because I'd been so focused on client work 😂), you can absolutely pick it up now and see results quickly.
SEO also isn't a "set it & forget it" thing that stays the same forever. It grows & evolves with you and your business. That's actually one of my favorite things about it.
Your Next Step: Set a Timer—Seriously
Here's what I want you to do right now:
Set a timer for 15 minutes & answer what I call the 3 BIG questions:
Who do you help? (Be specific. "Moms, entrepreneurs, therapists"—not a 5-page client avatar.)
How do you help them? (What's the transformation or offer?)
Why you? (What makes you different, or the obvious choice?)
That's it. These answers are the foundation of your entire SEO strategy. They're what will help you find the right keywords for your business & your offers—and what will help Google send the right people straight to your website.
Because when YOUR people find you on Google, that's not luck. That's SEO doing exactly what it's supposed to do. ✨
Want personalized support on your SEO journey?
SEO in my world starts with a 5-Day SEO Sprint.
You’ve spent enough time with your head buried in the sand. No need to do that for even a second longer!
With the sprint, you’re able to get in, get moving, AND get your website set up with a solid SEO strategy in just 1 week.
Want to see how long it takes to get started with SEO?
In all my years as an SEO coach & lead generation strategist, I can tell you that getting started with SEO takes as long as it takes.
What I mean by that is…
If you give yourself a year to do SEO—it’ll take a year.
If you give yourself two weeks—it’ll only take two weeks.
(I’ve had plenty of clients who’ve chosen both paths. The ones who implemented SEO quickly, were able to see results much more quickly. Just sayin’... 👀)
If you’re determined to drag this project out & let it be the most arduous thing you’ll do for your business—that will be your experience.
But if you open yourself to the possibility that SEO can be easy to understand and a supportive strategy that can work for you the more clear you are about expressing your vision… then that gets to be your experience!
My philosophy is to facilitate that easy-to-understand & implement version of an SEO journey for you.
And that’s exactly what you get inside the 5-Day SEO Sprint!
