Yes, yes. You made the choice, ultimately. You took the action. But tell me this… Would you have made said choice & taken said action without an outside influence? or THAT much pressure?

There's not always an intent to harm here, so perhaps the better phrasing would be an "imbalance of power." But the point is the same—someone is being made to feel that they must do X, which is absolutely not ok.
This Isn’t the Same as Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone

There IS something to be said for stepping outside your comfort zone. And that is NOT what I’m talking about.
I’m talking about that pit in your stomach, visceral “no!” you squashed because you thought that was stepping outside your comfort zone.
There’s a difference.
A Note to Anyone Who’s Experienced This Imbalance of Power with a Coach:
If you’ve never been on the receiving end of said “coaching,” I’m SO relieved! But it’s true, people are really out here encouraging you to ignore that inner “no”—and business owners are paying the price.
Their self-trust, bank account, & creative inspiration ALL take a hit.
And I am just... so NOT ok with that.
If you have experienced being strongly nudged in a direction you didn’t wanna go → I see you, I’ve been you, & I need you to know 1. you did nothing wrong & 2. the situation is not hopeless.
No one wants to admit it, let alone talk about it. But we NEED to. Because it’s 2026 & this sh*t is still happening when it shouldn’t be.
We could blame a number of things, but… that doesn’t actually help anyone.
So here’s what I propose instead—
I’m going to show you how SEO can be something you check in with before taking action on something that’s proposed.
(Whether that’s a marketing strategy, a title for something, or anything else related to your business.)
📝 SEO Pro Tip: Use it as a Check-In Before You Make a Next Move
This may surprise you… But there are times where I’ve pushed back on a client’s initial keyword of choice—only to relent in the long run.
Yep, I’ve “approved” SEO strategies that didn’t use the keyword I would’ve chosen. Lemme explain ⤵️
SEO is Soulful and Strategic
If you feel that strongly about saying “expert” vs “consultant” or “X photography” vs “Y photography” or “_ for coaches & consultants” vs “_ for service providers”—go on with your bad self!
I can feel that energy, that extra oomph behind the phrase & so can your potential clients.^^THAT is huge!
The more you’re energetically behind whatever keyword you go with, the better it is for business!
When You’re NOT Behind the Thing, it Goes Sideways…
I’ve worked with dozens of clients who’ve shared things like:
“I started X marketing strategy...”
“I did what they said...”
“I called myself X...”
All because someone made them feel like that was the only way.
“You can’t be successful if you don’t _”“No one will take you seriously as a _ if you don’t _”
Lies. I’ve seen people do the thing the way they wanted to do it & have success!

Now you may think that because the client didn’t use the EXACT word or phrase I was suggesting that everything went up in flames.

There’s a surprising energetic/soulful side to SEO. (Roll your eyes, but keep reading.)
The reason it’s SUCH a big problem for a coach to strongly push you into anything is that your energy is not behind it at all. Not even a little bit.
So the strategy may be there…You may be doing everything ‘right’...But the powers that be can feel you’re not bought in.
And it responds to that.
When you are bought in & excited about things, they start flowing!
Your blog posts start getting impressions (seen in search) AND visits 🎉
Your website starts getting traffic (» people seeing AND coming to you) 🎉
You start making sales while you sleep AND getting inquiries from Google 🎉
See! Magic happens when there’s alignment AND intention behind your strategy.
So yes, I will have thoughts & reasons for recommending keywords, SEO titles, H1 headlines—but you bet your tush I’m also making sure you’re 1000% behind it before we implement anything.
