SEO Benefits of Blogging for Solopreneurs: A Case Study

I’ve mentioned him to you before.

I called him D—so we’re gonna stick with that. 😉

D is a solopreneur.

No VA. No fancy tech. (I don’t even know if he uses Zapier for a single thing… 👀)

He works with nonfiction authors to edit & publish the books they’ve worked so hard to create!

When D was starting out (just a few years ago)—

He made it ABUNDANTLY clear he’d rather go to European Wax Center than market his business using social media.

Needless to say, it was a hard NO. ❌

Me:

“Ok, well… how are you going to get visible & grow your reach? Gain an audience you can build a rapport with who will want to buy from you & work with you?”

“Blogs. And SEO. That’s what I’ll do,” he said.

And done it, he has!

D has successfully marketed his business organically using SEO and blogging.

By leaning into the power of SEO, he has:

🎉 D now has 14k+ monthly visitors to his website!

🎉 He’s booking clients months in advance!

🎉 He’s got incredible testimonials too!

But there’s always more to the story, so let’s get to that…

1️⃣ Writing blogs felt daunting to him at first.

Even though he’s a darn good writer who helps other writers all-the-live-long-day, blog writing was a different beast.

D had to learn how to:

It’s become such a doable marketing task for him that he’s got blogs scheduled out typically 3 months in advance!

⭐ Pro Tip:

This is possible as you refine who you’re speaking to and what their deep desires & needs are.

You’re able to create content clusters & crank out quality content (blogs) quickly!

2️⃣ Website copy needed to be updated periodically.

He started out with a solid SEO strategy—but/and that needed to be slightly updated about once a year.

During that time we’d make tiny modifications to D’s website copy too because…

As every entrepreneur discovers, over time you get more & more & MORE clear on:

  • WHO you help (your ideal client & their needs/desires)

  • HOW you help (offer suite & even your industry)

  • WHAT you want to be known for (why YOU?)

Refining your SEO strategy (as well as your copy) is a much easier task once you already have a solid SEO foundation.

And! It helps you bring in more quality leads, warmer traffic, & therefore more money!

3️⃣ Getting quality testimonials that support the SEO.

Because the SEO calls in great clients who then write great testimonials for you, which in turn helps you attract more of those great clients!

(It’s why I always always advise my clients to start the keyword research process by evaluating their social proof (testimonials, case studies, survey forms, etc.)

D didn’t have any client testimonials when we began—he was brand new to this work.

Over time he got more comfortable asking for testimonials and spotting the good ones!

⭐ Pro Tip:

Good-to-great testimonials always speak to some combination of:

  • The results they achieved by working with you

  • You as a guide (your vibe and/or expertise)

  • Your framework or method

…and because of this, they naturally are packed with keywords—which help you get found online 24/7!

Moral/s of the case study story?

→ SEO does not in fact get more complicated over time!

→ SEO is a very doable marketing activity especially for solopreneurs!

SEO is THE thing that will grow your reach, boost your visibility, & increase your impact—easily & sustainably. ⬆️⬆️⬆️
