The Thread About Podcast Names

It was December 2023 & I was all up in my head about naming my new podcast, The Basic B. So what did I do? I took to Threads to share my frustration. And I was shocked by the response! I lost count of how many people commented on the thread sharing their grievances about naming a show. I. Wasn’t. Alone.

ID: “naming a podcast might just gibe the most difficult thing I’ve done in 2023. do I go clever & spicy? simple & clear? or searchable?”

So… I decided to create a follow up thread. I asked everyone—anyone—to share the name of their podcast (& link it). Again the response was incredible! The thread was reshared countless times. And I still find people adding their show to the list!

One person asked if I’d create a Spotify playlist of all the shows shared. (I tried—it’s not possible.) But I’m not one to be told no. So I give you: this blog.

This blog is a continuation of those conversations on Threads.

Below you’ll find the podcasts that were linked (as of January 6, 2024) on the thread.

(I’m hoping fellow podcasters will find this blog from the thread & comment with the link of their blog if they don’t see it here… Hint! Hint! Hint!)

Yes, that’s FIFTY podcasts! (And counting!)

As you might imagine, naming a podcast is incredibly challenging.

You want the show to be:

  • searchable / findable

  • memorable

  • magnetic to the right listeners

You want the name to be fun, maybe even capture your personality.

You want to give your audience a feel for what kind of show it is.

That’s a LOT to ask of a tiny title.

And that’s exactly what I was bumping up against.

I’m pleased to report the show has been named, cover art finalized, & the show will be launching on January 24th 2024!

I’ll be back SO soon to give you more details 🎉

Tata for now, friend!

psst:

I teach my clients & students to write blog posts that are a minimum of 500 words long. Which—guess what—isn’t all that difficult to do.

(Especially if you’re creating blogs for podcast episodes.)

In fact, that’s exactly how long this article is! (I just tallied it up in Google Docs 😉 Well… how long it was before I decided to write this chunk of change.)

If blogging is something you want to get more better at in 2024, make sure you add your name to the waitlist for the 10-day email course.

We begin Feb 20th 2024. 🎉
