Understanding how to write & optimize blogs can feel intimidating. Throw SEO into the mix and—whew! That can be a lot. I’ve decided to create an FAQ post to house allll the wonderful questions & insights that are sure to surface as I talk more about this email course.

As a refresher…

Image says: “Brittany the email course sounds awesome! I wouldn’t even know where to start with blogging, I feel like I’m a not-so-great-writer and want to know how to get things SEEN!”

If you don’t even know where to begin with blogging—this course is going to be your jam! I’ve broken down the LARGE topic of “blogging” down into 8 steps: Research, Ideate, Outline, Write, Images, Post, & Promote.

And getting you found online? That is what SEO (search engine optimization) does ALL. DAY. LONG! We’re walking through keyword research & where to put these SEO pieces in your blog so it increases warm-to-hot traffic to your site.

Image says: “I just started blogging and pretty much the only purpose is for SEO. So… I just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly and not wasting my time.“

Oof, do I feel that one! I’m all about efficiency and teaching you from my mistakes (it’s part of my Human Design *tosses hair*). This course is going to be especially helpful for you if you’re newer to blogging & have a special focus on writing blogs for SEO. We’re going over keyword research, the ideal blog template (for different types of blog posts), & how to make it all fit into an efficient workflow!

Image says: “I think even the basics - how to get started, why I need to care about SEO and the ROI. How to find keywords to optimize, do they need to be a certain length for optimization, then once you have the basics down - what is the next level deets I would need to know to maximize my time and effort writing? :) ”

There’s so much to unpack here! I love it.

Day 1 is about lots of what you shared at the beginning of the comment—how to get started, why blogging is important to your income and SEO strategy, etc.

Day 2-4 are about keyword research, how to optimize, word count—all that boring, good stuff!

And the rest of the course is how to take it to the next level—outlining your blog, using AI, naming images, etc. This is also when we’ll have our live video call (and yes—there will be a replay!).

I'm ALL about efficiency & that comes across in the material!

Image says: “I trust that you’ll help me get unstuck! (Cuz you’re right, SEO hasn’t been taught very well in the past!)”

If SEO had been taught in a simple, digestible, easy-to-execute, affordable way—you probably wouldn’t even be looking at this page right now! You may not have met me.

So for that, I thank you fellow SEO educators. (That was very tongue-in-cheek, but I truly mean it. I’m so flipping grateful for the opportunity to teach business owners how to get found online organically!)

Image says: “How many hours will this take per day? If you can’t work on it August 12-13, can I still catch up?”

Ok, lean in…
I always always build in “catch up days” because life likes to life when we have plans. So know that you’ve got at least a little extra built in time. 😉

Also—this material is yours for life! You’ll actually make a copy of each resource (and you can continue to make a copy—of things like the blog template—for each blog you write).

Also also, I’m kind of known for my love of questions (evidence: this FAQ blog 😂), so you can always ask me questions beyond taking the course. Which reminds me! There’s also a Live! Hot Seat / Q+A call—and yes, the replay will be sent out!

Image says: “Maybe something about Yoast and if it is worthwhile. I have the free version which helps (?) but I don’t understand SEO and how it works. I need your course, Brittany but I am also overloaded with courses… is this live or pre-recorded? (I couldn’t tell from my quick glance at your sales page.)“

Oh Yoast. Out here in these digital streets causing panic among bloggers.

My quick response to put your mind at ease: you can follow it loosely and be fine. I wouldn't go for the paid version. It can be challenging to get all the green lights & you're NOT a failure if you don't!

The course is live AND you'll have the material for life, so you could totally go at your own pace. There's a Live Hot Seat / Q+A call to encourage participation during the 10 days, but I've been there—overloaded with courses—and you certainly don't need to rush through it or even join us to get the most out of it.

Also! You know I love answering questions, haha, so I'll be around well beyond the course dates if you need me!

Image says: “I know I’m smart, but what sounds like it should be simple [keyword research] still feels soooo hard for me! (Clearly I need it to be dumbed right the f*ck down!) 😂”

If you feel anything like this person ⬆️ you’re in luck! Because breaking it down is something I’m known for.

The receipt:

Image says: “It was so impactful having Brittany on The #PrettyAwkwardEntrepreneur Podcast. What stands out about her interview the most is the clarity and approachability she brought to a topic that’s usually met with such resistance and confusion. She made SEO SIMPLE and straightforward and I have no doubt bite-sized enough for my listeners to take ACTION when in the past they would’ve thought this topic was ‘too confusing.’”

I may also be known for putting an insane amount of pressure on myself to “just know all the things,” but that’s unrealistic! So if you resonated with that part of the comment—just know we’re all in this learning thing together. I just happen to be a little ahead of you with this topic & I can make it make sense in a way that won’t make you feel… silly. ♥️

Image says: “Hey! I just signed up for this… I’m excited as I need to be better about doing the SEO research with my blogging!”

Oooh! I loved getting this bit of feedback! Keyword research is on the menu, friend! 🎉 This will be one of the days I’ve suggested carving out a little bit more time. This can be one of those topics that feels REAL overwhelming, but I’ve got a way to keep it simple & organized.

Image says: “How to write headlines, stories, etc. that grab the reader’s attention but still work with SEO. The best headline is no use if no one sees it, but an SEO-worthy headline often sounds boring. Keywords fit the story or the business, but not necessarily both.”

THIS is one of those challenges I live for! It is a del-i-cate balancing act to write headlines that 1. Speak to the problem or desire, 2. Incorporate personality, and 3. Include keywords. But it’s something I do on a daily basis as an SEO copywriter (especially with web copy, case studies, & podcast show notes). I’m going to show you how you can confidently do this too! Even cooler than that? There’s more than one way to get to the same destination.

Image says: “Ooooh juicy! I would want to know how to write a headline for max SEO, what tags to use, and if/how collaborations boost rankings (if other people share it to their audience).”

I’m so glad I got this question on a Facebook post (you know who you are 😉). Because she encouraged me to address something important to website performance & SEO ranking. Also—I’m always here to talk about collaborations! So get ready for this bonus material. 😂

Image says: “Quick question — does the course include tips on what to do with meta tags, meta descriptions, etc. as I update old blogs in Showit? And, would this blog writing workflow make sense if my only blogs are for my podcast?”

Firstly, yes! And secondly, yes!

We’re going over all those nitty gritty SEO specifics like SEO titles, meta descriptions, meta tags, alt text, & linking strategies. But again—don’t let this list overwhelm you. These deets are being dripped out over a week and a half! We have many days together, which = many days for you to slowly absorb the information you need to.

And if you’re “only” blogging about your podcast episodes—GO YOU! This workflow will work beautifully for any type of blog topic you’ve got—podcast episodes or interviews, how to posts, listicles, & more!

(I wasn’t blogging about my podcast. That’s why I felt like a failure last year. I had SO many episodes from my podcast that I could have—should have—blogged about but hadn’t. I didn’t let it stop me. Once I stopped wallowing, I made a goal to blog about the top-performing episodes more regularly. And that strategy has worked well for me!)

Image says: “I’d love to have a template/checklist of things to make sure I’ve done. I have an idea about what I’m doing but still clueless about any of the stuff you can plan in (eg, what info to have in headings/sub headings and how to do them, reminders to link to other blog posts, how many words to write for a big post and then how many for smaller posts that it links to)”

Yet another brilliant idea brought forth from a comment by a kind stranger. 🎉 I already had the best blog template EVER ready to rock & roll, but because of this ⬆️, I’ve added a checklist as well! So you’ll have a great starting place and a wonderful way to easily check your work before you post. 😉

And I’m totally sharing all the things: ideal character count, word count, how often to use keywords, headlines—all of ‘em!

Image says: “Hey Brittany! I was wondering—I do direct sales and they won’t let me have a blog. So besides email can I use this class for social media as well?”

I had a few thoughts about this. This is the exact answer I sent her—

Few thoughts:

- You could if you wanted to start your own Wordpress blog that would point people to your landing page for people to make purchases.

- This course will DEFINITELY teach you SEO basics & keyword research if that's ever been something you've wanted to learn more about.

...which, yes, could help you come up with ideas to talk about in your social posts!
...and would help you use SEO on social media—which has become a hot topic.
...and you could apply the organization of a blog post to what and how you deliver ideas on social posts.

- There's also a bonus all about optimizing images 🎉 (titles & alt text, which both apply to social media) AND about AI 🎉—if that's something you're interested in learning more about (we're focusing that bonus around generating ideas).

- Also, the blog stuff might not be helpful to you now but in the future it definitely could be if you do decide to start a blog/have your own site.

I know that’s a lotta info & if you find yourself in a similar situation & you still have questions—comment below ⬇️ or DM me!

Image says: “No brainer! I’m in!! I was JUST thinking (like 2-3 days ago) that I need help with my SEO for my blog! AND I also thought ‘I wish Brittany had an easy SEO course I could take. She’s the only one I want to learn it from.’ No. Freakin’. Lie!”

This response KEEPS popping up in my DMs and inbox! This is clearly a needed and wanted course—whew! 😅 I’m just here wanting to help people in whatever way they want/need help. I’d love to see you inside the How to Write a Blog w/ SEO email course, but if you either 1. Catch this post when doors are closed OR 2. Are looking for some different SEO copywriting & marketing support, check out the full list of Services.

Image says: “It’s funny because the questions that were on your sales page were the questions I have: How many keywords, how to use images, keyword research. Also, I’ve heard so many different numbers when it comes to how long a blog post should be for SEO purposes.”

This one gave me “yeah, you DO know what you’re doing vibes” on a day when I really needed that. Yes! All these questions are listed on this sales page because I’m making sure to cover them in the course. 🎉

We’re for sure talking about blog post length! Something you should know about me: I believe there’s always a way to get to where you want to go. I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all strategy. But there are certainly best practices. 😉

Before you go!
